Clifton Alliance and Sheffield Collegiate pop the champagne corks in Yorkshire Premier North and South

NOT even the rain could prevent Clifton Alliance from winning the Yorkshire Premier League North’s Premier Division.

The four points that they gained from their abandoned match at Harrogate took them over the line. Harrogate were asked to bat and had made 162-7 from 40.2 overs when play was halted, with Peter Greenfield 74 not out after Isaac Light had made 33, Tom Brown bagging 3-38.

Three clubs could still finish second with York on 144, Castleford 142 and Sheriff Hutton Bridge 138.

York were at Driffield Town, who scored 136-2 from their 30 overs, opener Jack Redshaw making 80 not out and adding 105 unbroken with Elliot Hatton (29no).

The visitors were set a revised target of 199 from the same number of overs and breezed home by nine wickets, courtesy of opener Duncan Snell (80no) and Breidyn Schaper (103no), Snell facing 66 balls and hitting nine fours and a six, and Schaper a mere 56 deliveries, 10 of which went for fours and six for sixes. Castleford were in strife at 68-8 at home to Hull Zingari after 29 overs when stumps were pulled, while Sheriff Hutton Bridge had dismissed visitors Knaresborough for 154, Patham Pawaluge having scored 77.

At the bottom, Carlton Towers and Stamford Bridge are level on 60 points, with Zingari on 68.

Stamford Bridge were dismissed for 88 at Woodhouse Grange, Toby Findlay taking 4-31 and Jack Dyson 3-11 before Findlay hit 55 not out as Grange reached their revised target of 82 in just 8.5 overs.

John Major scored 84 in Towers’ 157-9 at home to Beverley Town, who were 46-2 in reply when the heavens opened.

Sheffield Collegiate have won the Yorkshire Southern Premier League’s Premier Division, despite their match at Tickhill being rained off. Cleethorpes - the only team that could catch them - suffered the same fate at Whitley Hall.

Only 35.4 were possible in the whole division, with Wakefield Thornes having the lion’s share of those, being 63-3 after 23 overs at home to Wickersley Old Village.

Whiston Parish Church are down, with Hallam likely to join them as they are 20 points behind Sprotbrough with two matches left and a possible 24 points to be gained.

Woodlands edge ahead in Bradford League title race

Woodlands are the new leaders of the Bradford Premier League Premier Division after winning at home to Carlton. The visitors were sent in and scored 185-9 from the 40 overs allowed, Brad Schmulian taking 3-38 and Elliot Richardson 2-11.

Woodlands were set a revised target of 201 from the same number of overs and got there halfway through the 37th over with eight wickets down.

Townville were at home to already-relegated Pudsey Congs and had them at 119-6 in 34.3 overs when play stopped, Hassan Butt scoring 60, Tom Chippendale (3-36) and Usman Arshad (3-42) sharing the wickets. Woodlands are on 337 points and Townville 334 with one game left.

Farsley were bowled out for 112 at Bradford & Bingley, Bradley Reeve taking 5-31.

The only other game to finish was at Cleckheaton, who made 178-7, opener Hisan Ahmad scoring 67, Josh Priestley bagging 3-40. Saints were set a revised target of 223 and won by four wickets. New Farnley were at Morley, who made 168-5 (Waleed Akhtar 64) before play was halted.

It is going to take something big for either Kirkstall Educational and Tong Park Esholt to escape relegation in the Airedale and Wharfedale Premier Division. With 40 points available, both are on 175 points and are 23 behind third-from-bottom North Leeds.

Champions Otley were at relegation threatened Esholt and made 254-9, George Myers leading the scoring with 87 from 66 balls, which contained six fours and seven sixes.

Openers Alex Atkinson (27) and George Huntley (41) gave Otley a great start before Myers and Jake Whittaker (44) added 123 for the fourth wicket, three wickets having fallen with the score at 77.

Esholt were set a revised target of 269 but were dismissed for 216 (Dave Hester 41, Gareth Wilkinson 50; Charlie Parker 4-44, Damon Reeve 3-57).

Kirkstall notched a surprise win at second-placed Saltaire, who scored 151-9 from 44 overs after winning the toss, Jibrael Malik (73no). A revised target of 145 was set and Kirkstall won by four wickets after 31.5 overs.

Rain badly affected the Huddersfield Premier League with no games finishing.

Armitage Bridge (23 points) are down as they can only reach 35 points, with the other demotion berth resting between Mirfield Parish Cavaliers (34 points), Golcar (40) and Almondbury Wesleyan (43).
