Garforth restore faith with cup shock

Division Two outfit Garforth Parish Church pulled off an upset in the Fred Fleetwood Cup second round by knocking out Division One Wetherby.

Michael Fisher claimed 3-16 as Wetherby were bowled out for 154, chasing Parish Church's

231-2 that featured an opening 129-run stand between Simon Lonsdale (92no) and Jamie Stockton (57).

Simon Ball (60), Simon Smith (52), Peter Phelan (41) and Mike Molloy (4-34) steered Division One leaders Scarcroft to a 35-run win at Great Preston.

Russ Murray (58), Chris Wormstone (4-49) and Ian Newton (3-19) were Great Preston's best performers.

Tashmail Mills hit 52 and Murray Lloyd (48) as Walton trounced Kippax by 193 runs.

St Chad's, Old Modernians, Bramhope, Shadwell and Kirk Deighton had walk-overs when their opponents conceded.
