Good knock takes Harrogate clear after brothers stun York

Brothers Will and Dominic Rhodes played a big part as Stamford Bridge dented York's Yorkshire Premier North title hopes.

Will took 6-36 and Dominic weighed in with two wickets as York were bowled out for 163 more than half of which came in a third-wicket stand of 87 between Liam McKendry (73) and Chris Booth (20).

Stuart Boyle (54) teamed up with the brothers and Donovan Sinclair as Bridge reached 152-3. They then lost three with only five runs added and three more with the scores tied but just managed to edge over the line.

York’s defeat allowed Harrogate to open up a 15-point lead at the top after they beat Scarborough by seven wickets.

Tail-enders Theo Smith (74), Jack Holt (40) and Darren Mills (27) helped Scarborough to 225 after Nick Taylor (4-53) and Harry Stow (3-73) looked to have them on the ropes at 80-7.

But the result was never in doubt after Matthew Good, who included 20 boundaries in his unbeaten 123, and Jonathan Tattersall (61) put on 151 for Harrogate’s second wicket.

A century stand between Chris Bilton (79) and Mike Burdett (39no) helped Woodhouse Grange to 224-4 and a 6-41 spell from Josh Jackson ensured a shock 39-run win over third-placed Sheriff Hutton Bridge.

Jordan Thompson (69no) and James Logan (7-40) starred as Yorkshire Academy crushed Dunnington by 87 runs.

Jordon Coley (5-46) led the way as Acomb were dismissed for 187, a total Ali Asad (63no) and Sam Drury (104no) passed despite the scare of Driffield losing three wickets for 22.

Ross Davy (31no) managed to squeak Hull past Castleford’s 156 with a wicket to spare despite the efforts of David Wainwright (5-25) who rattled the nerves as the visitors lost four wickets for eight runs in mid-innings.

Nick Connolly (60) and Joe Fraser (58) were the top scorers in Hanging Heaton’s 203 before Muhammad Rameez (5-14) bowled out Scholes for 118.

That sent Hanging Heaton to the top of Bradford Premier, taking over from Pudsey St Lawrence, who crashed to their second defeat in a row.

Alex Atkinson (57) and Sarfraz Ahed, who scored 62 off 23 balls, helped Woodlands to 241-5 and with Chris Brice taking three wickets in five balls when the Saints’ innings was at 40, not even a gutsy effort from Richie Lamb (50no) could save them.

Lee Goddard hit 17 fours and four sixes in his 151no as he led New Farnley to a 78-run win at East Bierley, and Farsley took just 58 minutes to pass Pudsey Congs’ 99.

Curtis Free (36) and Sam Wilson (21) put on 50 for the eighth wicket in Cleckheaton’s 206-8 then Free took 4-34 and Wilson 3-21 as Bradford & Bingley were dismissed for 162.

Matthew Baxter (60) top-scored in Morley’s 203-8 but a century stand between openers Alex Stead (62) and Ian Philliskirk (88) and 44no from Jonathan Wilson saw Lightcliffe win comfortably.

Steve Morgan’s 5-21 spell ensured Wakefield Thornes successfully defended their 182 total at Aston Hall to stay top of Yorkshire South Premier.

Sheffield & Phoenix United’s Yaqoob Yousuf took 5-50 and top scored with 66 but still finished on the losing side as they collapsed from 150-2 to 196 with Daniel Priestley taking the last four wickets for three runs in the eight balls. Michael Simpson had included seven sixes in his unbeaten 91 as Sheffield Collegiate set a 272 target.

Matt Fowler (56) and Duncan Heath (5-41) starred as Appleby Frodingham kept up their title challenge with a 45-run win at Barnsley.

Michael Topp (3-40) and Luke Townsend (4-23) restricted Wickersley to 115 and set up a seven-wicket win for Doncaster.

The top three sides in Aire-Wharfe won easily. Ben Morley (91) and Chris Thompson (6-39) starred as Otley beat North Leeds; Alex Lilley hit a hal-century and took 5-26 as Beckwithshaw crushed Collingham; and Byron Boshoff(77no) took Horsforth past Rawdon’s 151.

In the Huddersfield League Championship, 14-year-old leg-spinner William Reeves took 4-24 as Thongsbridge beat Meltham.

In the Premiership, Aaron Lilley smashed 95 off 47 balls to take Delph to victory over Kirkburton and keep them top .
