The three-match series had been due to start in Cape Town today but was called off at the 11th hour after a positive case in the home camp.

It is now hoped that the series will begin in Paarl on Sunday, with the second match taking place in Cape Town on Monday and the final fixture in Cape Town on Wednesday.

Cricket South Africa has not named the player but said that it had taken the decision to postpone the series in consultation with the England and Wales Cricket Board and “in the interests of the safety and well-being of both teams, match officials and all involved”.

Earlier this week, England won the three-match T20 series between the teams 3-0.
