Saturday Review: Pudsey St Lawrence win Bradford Premier title showdown against New Farnley

Saints were struggling at 88-6 when Chris Marsden (32) and Charlie Parker (26) put on a half-century and they were finally able to set a target of 153.

With Jordan Thompson (3-36) and Parker (4-26) making inroads, New Farnley were always up against it, despite a battling 33 from Lee Goddard and were bowled out for 107.

Nick Connolly (49) and Ishmail Dawood (56) helped Hanging Heaton set a target of 202 against Methley, who looked on track after an opening stand of 90 between Adal Islam (42) and Marcus Walmsley (53). But a 6-39 spell from Callum Geldart saw them dismissed for 171.

At the other end of the table, Joe Halstead (67) and Kyme Tahirkeli (47) shared a century stand in Bradford and Bingley’s 212-8. James Logan hit an unbeaten 94 to take Farsley to victory but Bees’ eight bonus points ensured they avoid relegation.

East Bierley’s relegation was confirmed when Tom Kohler-Cadmore smashed 18 fours and seven sixes in making 127 and put on 189 with Toby Thorpe to take Cleckheaton past Bierley’s 214 in which Taufeeq Ahmed made 64.

Scholes also go down, Chris Brice (5-42) and Kez Ahmed (5-21) bowling them out for 115 before Sam Frankland (44no) and Tim Jackson (57no) led Woodlands home.

Conor Harvey (6-27) and Ritchie Bresnan (4-37) skittled Lightcliffe for 68 to set up a six-wicket win for Townville.

Jack Leaning (102no) and Chris Booth (90no) clinched York’s nine-wicket win at Scarborough as they moved closer to the Yorkshire North championship. Oliver Stephenson (74) and Ben Elvidge (73) put on 143 for Scarborough.

York have a nine-point lead over Woodhouse Grange, who came up 20 runs short of Yorkshire Academy’s 239-6, despite an unbeaten century from Chris Bilton. Harry Brook (54), Benjamin Birkhead (66) and Tom Loten (52no) were the main contributors to the Academy score with Bilal Anjum picking up five Grange wickets.

Scott Hopkinson followed up a 4-27 spell with 46 not out and together with Liam Hope-Shackley (87no) took Clifton Alliance past Castleford’s 146.

A century stand between Matthew Jordan (88) and Faisal Irfan (50) put Yorkshire South champions Wakefield Thornes on the way to a 75-run win at Appleby Frodingham.

Brian Sanders (76) starred as Sheffield Collegiate beat Barnsley.

A 7-50 spell from Greg Norton saw Whiston dismissed for 119 and Treeton’s eight-wicket win means their opponents go down.

Brothers Josh (100) and Tom Coulson (59) put on 158 in Aston Hall’s 236-9, which proved 29 runs too good for Cleethorpes, for who James Osmond made 67.

Ali Waqas made 65 but a 6-60 spell from Joe Cooper saw Doncaster dismissed for 180, which Hallam passed with Cooper adding an unbeaten 24.

Greig Batty (53no) took Whitley Hall past Wickersley’s 150-7.

Long-time Aire Wharfe leaders Otley crashed to a second successive defeat, allowing Burley to take over top spot.

Chris Thompson (6-34) looked to have it sewn up for Otley when Pool were dismissed for 126 but James Rosewarne (6-41) and David Amos (4-60) bowled out the hosts for 103.

Josh Challenger hit a century off 67 balls to help Burley to 203 and despite the efforts of Henry Scanlan (51) and Harry Nicholson (30no) Rawdon only managed 161.

Hoylandswaine captain SP Singh hit a half-century to put his side on the way to victory at Delph & Dobcross and to within a point of the Huddersfield Premiership title.
