Wickersley keep their foot on the title pedal

239-7, Muhammad Naveed unbeaten on 64, and Richard Harrison, (49no), and Shahjaan Younis (46) as they routed Norton oakes.guests Norton Oakes.

Haidar Jahangir took 4-16) and Shahid Hussain (4-22) as Oakes were rushed out for 71.

Treeton wasted no time in getting rid of hosts Wath for just 58, the league’s top all-rounder Steve Foster bagging 7-21, Treeton easing to 59 without loss, Scott Cunningham and Gareth Davis seeing them to a quick maximum.

Elsecar’s winning streak continued at the Wath ground, the Moor Road team back in the pavilion for 103, unable to handle the skills of Shahzad Rana (7-30), Elsecar breezing to an eight-wicket win, Jason Meadows (59).

Coal Aston entertained Houghton Main, and saw off the visitors for 145, Ben Sutton (51no). The wickets were shared by Nick Horsfield (4-35) and Liam Johnson (4-20) before they replied with 146-6, Laurence Browes top bat with 39.

Whitley Hall only managed 144 at home to Aston Hall, South African Jaco Castle continuing his fine season with a knock of 60, with Scott Hibbert (5-28) the main bowler for Aston, who were stopped by rain and bad light at 76-5, Ben Webster (3-18).

Hallam versus Whiston never got started.

Centuries were few and far between throughout the league. Kexborough’s Adam Wiles cracked 103no in the Division One clash with Wath B, with 15 boundaries, while in Division Four, Doncaster Town hammered the Mexborough attack for 300-1, Mark Lockwood slamming 16 fours in his knock of 112, Matt Green adding 96no and Andy Jessop (83). Low scorers of the day were Houghton B, dismissed for 51 by Thorncliffe in Division Four, and bowling honours went to Bradfield’s Phil Clark, who grabbed 8-29 in the Division Three win over Norton Oakes B.

Wickersley travel to take on Whiston, while Whitley Hall visit Elsecar next Saturday.
