Will England v Pakistan be on? Hour-by-hour weather forecast as fans hold breath over Headingley T20 fixture

England are due to start a four-match Test series against Pakistan at Headingley this evening (May 22).

The series will be their only preparation for the defence of the T20 World Cup, which begins next month against Scotland. A healthy crowd is expected for the fixture, days after England’s women’s team broke the attendance record for women’s cricket at Headingley with over 10,000 tickets sold.

However, those due to attend the men’s fixture may understandably be glancing nervously out of the window at the weather. Yellow and amber weather warnings have been issued in the last 24 hours, as the sun in West Yorkshire gives way to clouds and rain.

It will be a case of déjà vu for cricket fans, as the forecast was similarly bleak for the 2022 T20 World Cup final, which England won in Melbourne.
