Carey, 26, is a left-handed bat and right-arm medium-pace bowler who was part of Australia’s team which won the T20 World Cup against India on Sunday.

She is among the latest raft of high-profile signings announced for The Hundred, which include Australian team-mates Ashleigh Gardner (Birmingham Phoenix) and Beth Mooney (Welsh Fire).

South Africa’s Marizanne Kapp and Chloe Tryon are joining Oval Invincibles and London Spirit respectively.

Carey will link up with fellow Australian Alyssa Healy at the Superchargers, one of eight franchises who will compete in a five-week competition alongside the men’s event from mid-July.
