Yorkshire CCC and Moeen Ali happy to stick together for second season
MOEEN ALI will play for Yorkshire again in 2027 after taking up the option to extend his contract.
The former England all-rounder joined the club on a Vitality Blast-only deal for 2026.
His contract included the option of another year, with both parties more than happy to continue the arrangement.
“Mo’s back for another year,” Gavin Hamilton, Yorkshire’s general manager of cricket, confirmed to The Yorkshire Post.

“It is very much a mutual decision.
“Mo's at that stage of his career where we left in his contract that there'll be a clause in there that if he chose to move on, he could do.
"Obviously from our side, if we felt that he was adding value on and off the field, we’d discuss it (another year).
“And, to be perfectly honest, it was a very easy discussion.

“He said to us that he was really happy, and we said, ‘we are, let’s let it roll’.”
Moeen, 39, impressed both on and off the field after reversing his decision to come out of domestic retirement.
The double World Cup winner played his part as Yorkshire reached the T20 quarter-finals, only to be knocked out following a remarkable innings from Somerset’s Craig Overton, who scored an unbeaten 79 off 30 balls to lift his team from 82-8 to a target of 162 with just one ball to spare.
Moeen – who is currently playing for Janakpur Bolts in the Nepal Premier League – contributed two half-centuries in the Blast campaign and claimed eight wickets at an average of 24.
He was also a shoulder to lean on for his friend and former England team-mate Jonny Bairstow, as well as a source of inspiration and encouragement to the club’s younger players.
“It’s good that he’ll be back,” Hamilton added.
“Both him and AJ Tye (the Australian who started a two-year Blast deal last summer) have got another year with us, and we’ll see where it takes us after that.
“We won games in T20 this year that I don’t think we would have won last year because of experience, and they bring that quality in abundance.”
