The hosts completed an emphatic victory 20 minutes after lunch on day four, openers Adam Lyth (14) and Tom Kohler-Cadmore (23) requiring only 6.2 overs to take their team to a 34-run target.

It means that Yorkshire end their five-match Bob Willis Trophy group campaign with three wins and two draws.

They will finish top of the North Group if Derbyshire fail to beat Lancashire at Liverpool, but it would not be enough for Yorkshire to qualify for the final as one of the two group winners with the most number of points.

Earlier today, Yorkshire’s Jordan Thompson captured his maiden five-wicket haul in first-class cricket.

The 23-year-old rounder took 5-31 from 11 overs as the visitors were bowled out for 161 in their second innings.

Leicestershire, 78-5 overnight, 50 behind, lost two wickets inside the first five overs on a final day blessed with glorious sunshine.

Ben Coad had Arron Lilley caught at fourth slip by Will Fraine off a loose drive, and then Ben Mike lbw, Coad finishing with 3-23 and outstanding match figures of 8-41.

A couple of catches were spilled before Yorkshire took the eighth Leicestershire wicket on 135, Dieter Klein cutting Duanne Olivier to Thompson at backward point.

Thompson finished the innings by bowling Colin Ackermann for the top score of 47 and last man Alex Evans, thereby capping another fine all-round display after he made 62 in the Yorkshire first innings.
