Yorkshire CCC's Matthew Revis confident England contract will work well for club and country
MATTHEW REVIS is looking forward to working closely with the England regime after the awarding of his development contract earlier this week.
The 24-year-old, from Steeton, has progressed significantly over the past two years with Yorkshire, last winter seeing him go away with England Lions to Abu Dhabi and Australia.
While he may not have matched last season’s heights with the bat – he had a run of three successive centuries of 150, 110 not out and a career-best 152 not out against Essex, Surrey and Sussex – he still made a signficant contribution as Yorkshire finished fifth in the Division One standing.
He was also one of only four Yorkshire ever-presents alongside Dom Bess, George Hill and Adam Lyth.

On Monday, Revis was one of nine players awarded a development contract by the ECB, a further indication of how highly-regarded he is outside of Yorkshire as well as at Headingley.
“I’m delighted, really,” said Revis. “I was involved with the Lions last winter in Australia and Abu Dhabi and this summer in that T20 against Sri Lanka at Beckenham.
“But to get this recognition of a contract for the next year, I’m absolutely buzzing.”
The contract will allow England to have a greater say in where Revis plays and when, although given former Yorkshire strength and conditioning coach Harry Booker is involved in the programme, the all-rounder doesn’t expect any issues.
“For the next year, obviously throughout the Lions’ winter schedule, and then leading into the summer stuff as well, they work a little bit closer to you,” said Revis.
“Your likes of Harry Booker, their strength and conditioning coach, and those type of people will be around and monitoring. The coaches will obviously be monitoring from afar.
“There will obviously be things with the Lions in the summer, and me being their player now gives them the power to potentially pull me out of Yorkshire fixtures if they think my workload’s a little bit high.
“But, with the relationship we have with them – Harry having previously worked at Yorkshire, we work very closely. I’m sure that kind of thing won’t be a problem.”
