3.10: After further rain, which has since stopped, the umpires have decided that they will carry out an inspection of the pitch and outfield at 3.45pm.

It’s cutting it fine now for Yorkshire, who are desperate to get on to knock off the 63 more runs they need for victory.

2.00: The rain has stopped and the groundstaff are working hard in an effort to get the field fit for play. It continues to be a wait-and-see process as to whether a) the rain continues to hold off and b) that not too much of it has fallen to prevent play from starting.

Yorkshire are keeping their fingers crossed...

11.35: Still raining in Hove. The scene is not quite as bleak as before but no news yet on a potential start time. The forecast is better for the afternoon but still indifferent.

10.15: Yorkshire have been greeted by heavy rain at Hove, where they are seeking to add the further 63 runs they need to beat Sussex.

Conditions are set to improve from lunchtime onwards, although there are puddles on the outfield and plenty of rain has fallen during recent hours.

Yorkshire are 138-3 chasing the 201 they require, with Adam Lyth having played a captain’s hand with 69 and Shai Hope on 53.
