12.15pm: RUGBY LEAGUE - Brian Noble cannot wait to get started in his new role after being unveiled as Salford City Reds head coach. The 52-year-old former Bradford, Wigan and Great Britain coach was presented as the Reds’ successor to Phil Veivers at a press conference at the Salford City Stadium.

Noble, who has been without a club since leaving Crusaders at the end of the 2010 season, said: “It’s very exciting. There is an urge to get back in.”

11am: FOOTBALL - Fixtures for next season will be released on Wednesday, June 19, at 9am.

10.15am: CRICKET - England batsman Kevin Pietesen has been ruled out of the Test series with New Zealand with a knee injury. The Surrey batsman is recovering from “significant bone bruising” to his right knee and the England and Wales Cricket Board has confirmed in a statement that he will have a scan next week to determine when he is able to resume training.

England launch a busy summer of cricket with a two-Test series against New Zealand in May.

9.45am: CRICKET - England’s Tim Bresnan and Joe Root are in the Yorkshire team to play Roses rivals Lancashire in a first-class friendly at Headingley over the next three days. Action starts at 12pm.

8am: RUGBY UNION - Leeds Carnegie have confirmed the signings of Moseley fly-half Glyn Hughes and Jersey captain Nathan hannay on two-year contracts.

The duo will join the club for next season. Hughes, 21, has impressed this season at Moseley after joining the club from the Northampton Academy last summer. Hannay, 28, is a second-rower who has adapted well to life in the Championship with the Channel Islanders.
