Barnsley FC head coach Gerhard Struber confident of further signings
A busy week on the transfer front has seen Jacob Brown depart the club for Stoke City, with the club completing two pieces on incoming business with Polish defender Michal Helik and former Liverpool and Brighton midfielder Isaac Christie-Davies joining the club.
The Reds hierarchy remain in ongoing dialogue with several clubs regarding potential targets, with bringing in a targetman striker being one of the big priorities for the club.
Struber admits to being philosophical regarding the sale of Brown, accepting that Barnsley's status as one of the division's smaller clubs - and with one of smallest budgets - in the Championship meaning that their leading players will be targets for other bigger outfits.
The Reds head coach, who reports no fresh injury problems for Saturday's home opener with Luton Town, said: said: "Jacob had a big impact last season to stay in the league, especially with his powerful football and he was very helpful to play in my style against the ball.
"It is a difficult situation for me and the team. But I think it is a logical next step when you develop players in a good direction that other clubs are interested.
"We are a small club with a small budget and have rules. We cannot make a similar situation like Stoke or other big clubs. But many players know to play at Barnsley, for a development situation, is very, very good.
"It is not easy, but the good thing is we have good replacements in our squad and I trust my squad and at the moment, we look for new players and I think we are in a very good situation this week with two new players and I hope we can find, in the next few weeks, one or two or three new players to help us for our next goals.
"We are in an exchange with many players at the moment to see what is the best for us. We have no stress at the moment. I have a big trust in my squad."
Struber added: "I said last week he is an interesting player, but we have many options.
"There is no stress, we will search for the right one. He is a good option, but we will check on other options about what is the best."
