Flatman added: "I've thoroughly enjoyed being at Barnsley and want to place on record my sincere thanks to Neerav and the board for giving me the opportunity to lead this historic club over the past two and a half years.
"I've had the privilege of working with a driven, hard-working group of staff, past and present, across Oakwell and our Barnsley FC Community Trust.
"I would like to thank the supporters, sponsors and council for the warmth and support they've shown from the moment I arrived. Barnsley is a brilliant town of which the club forms an integral part."
