The former Liverpool player, 23, who only signed for the Reds on permanent basis in September, has been allowed to head to the continent in order to boost his prospects of a run of regular first-team football.

Christie-Davies is yet to feature at first-team level for Barnsley with head coach Valerien Ismael recently speaking about the likelihood of him leaving the club to get some regular game-time.

Brighton-born Christie-Davies has had previous experience on the continent with Belgian outfit Cercle Bruges, who he joined on loan last year.

During his time at Liverpool, Christie-Davies made three appearances - having originally come through the youth system at Chelsea before heading to Merseyside.

The midfielder signed a three-year deal at Barnsley in the autumn, with a further 12-month option in the club's favour.

Christie-Davies is the latest loan departure from Oakwell with Luke Thomas and Elliot Simoes having headed out of the club to Ipswich Town and Doncaster Rovers respectively earlier this month.

On the incoming front, the club are hoping to bring in a striker and a left-sided wing-back ahead of the closure of the transfer window on Monday evening.
