Barnsley FC sign Austrian midfielder Dominik Frieser

BARNSLEY have completed their second signing of the close season with the addition of LASK Linz attacking midfielder Dominik Frieser - who has joined for an undisclosed fee.

Frieser, 26 - a player well known to Reds head coach Gerhard Struber from his time in Austria - has agreed a deal until the summer of 2022, subject to international clearance.

His arrival follows the capture of young defender Kilian Ludewig, who has joined the club on a season-long loan from Red Bull Salzburg.

Frieser, who can operate on the flanks and up front has extensive experience in his native Austria, making 225 appearances across the divisions.

He featured in Linz's Europa League campaign last term when his side the likes of Sporting Lisbon and AZ Alkmaar en-route to a Round of 16 tie against Manchester United.

On the signing of Frieser, Struber said: "Dominik has achieved great things in Austria and in Europe, so I am delighted that he has joined us at Barnsley.

"He comes with lots of experience, he is a player with positive attributes and personal characteristics and I know he will add a lot to this team.

Reds winger Jordan Green has joined League Two side Southend United on a six-month loan.
