Barnsley FC transfer latest: Reds sign Ivorian striker on long-term deal

BARNSLEY have completed the signing of FC Annacy striker Ben Hamed Toure for an undisclosed fee.

The 23-year-old Ivorian has joined on a three-year deal from the French second-tier outfit, with the Reds having a further year’s option.

Toure made his debut in Ligue 1 with Ajaccio as a teenager and has made over 100 appearances with Ajaccio and Annecy. He is the first Ivorian to represent Barnsley.

On his deal, Toure said: “I’m a striker who likes to run in behind and I never stop working – that’s part of my hame and I don’t think it will take me long to adapt to how the team plays.

"I know I’m the first Ivorian player to play for this club and that makes me really proud. I’m very happy to be here and can’t wait to get started."

Boss Daniel Stendel added: “Ben Hamed is a striker we’ve followed for some time. He’s powerful, direct and he presses with real intensity – that’s exactly the profile we need to lead our press from the front.

“He’s still young and has room to grow and we’re confident this is the right environment and the right system for him to kick on/

"We believe that this club is the right place to make Ben a better player and better goalscorer.”
