The 22-year-old has signed a three-year deal at Oakwell, with the Tykes getting his arrival over the line before Friday's domestic transfer deadline.

Brittain debuted for the Dons when he was 18-years-old and has made 122 appearances for the club and played a key role in MK Dons' promotion to League One in the 2018-19 campaign.

The England Under-20 international is most comfortable at full-back but will be able to bring some versatility to the Reds' squad this campaign.

He is a player that Barnsley have had on their radar for a while and one who also sparked interest from other clubs

"This is a significant addition to our squad, and one we've been chasing for a while," said Barnsley chief executive officer, Dane Murphy.

"Callum is a terrific young talent who had a number of suitors, so for us to win the race for his signature is especially pleasing and we think he will only complement our options in defence.

"I'm delighted to welcome him to Oakwell."

On joining Barnsley, Brittain added: "I'm really happy to get it done and looking forward to meeting the lads and hopefully hit the ground running.

"It's been a positive few years of development in League One and Two and now I feel it's the perfect time to come and test myself at Championship level.

"Everyone only has good things to say about Barnsley and I'm sure I can achieve my goals here."
