Blackpool 1 Barnsley 2: No targets set, says Flitcroft

Barnsley boss David Flitcroft hailed his players’ commitment to the cause after Jason Scotland’s late strike secured another vital three points away to 10-man Blackpool.

Flitcroft has turned Barnsley’s season on its head since stepping up from assistant to replace Keith Hill earlier this month, and today’s 2-1 win took their points tally under his stewardship to 13 from a possible 15.

In a fiercely contested match Jim O’Brien gave the visitors the lead in the 25th minute only for Tom Ince to level things after the break.

The game turned in Barnsley’s favour when Blackpool goalkeeper Matt Gilks saw red for handling outside the box just after the hour, before Scotland popped up with the winner two minutes from time.

“I’ve not set any targets yet, that’s not really my style, we just have to worry about ourselves,” said Flitcroft.

“We’ve just got to continue concentrating on what we do and now worrying about others.

“If we carry that on we’ll get out of trouble.”
