Blackpool v Doncaster Rovers - Essential to tread carefully, says Darren Moore

After three straight defeats, it was perhaps no coincidence Tom Anderson, James Coppinger and John Bostock were all on the pitch for Doncaster Rovers’ dramatic 3-3 draw with Hull City.

Manager Darren Moore has had to tread carefully in not pushing the experienced trio through more football than they are ready for, and will be wary again as he picks his team to face Blackpool in League One tonight.

Anderson made his comeback from concussion at Fleetwood Town, substitute Coppinger returned from injury, and Bostock came on at half-time as he built up his minutes after joining as a free agent in January

“When you’ve lost a few games you want people that have been there and know what’s required to get out of it,” said Moore.

“Tom was only really declared fit on Friday. I had a chat with James on the morning of the game and if it had been a younger player I might have made the decision for him.

“John not starting was always a precaution but I just felt the way the game was going there would be spaces for him to operate in.”

In an impatient sport it is, Moore admits, difficult but essential to give players the right amount of time.

“This season I’ve suffered twice but not through not listening,” he said.

“At Wimbledon, Jon Taylor was ready to come off when he made a lung-busting run as I was waiting for the ball to go out.

“The other was the home game (against Swindon Town) when Josh Sims pulled up and again we had the player warming up two minutes before. I’ve tried to be more mindful of that.”

Last six games: Blackpool WWLWWL; Doncaster Rovers DLLLWW
