Boardman brace settles Trophy tie

FA TROPHY, PRELIMINARY ROUND: Two goals from Robert Boardman saw Wakefield to a 2-1 home victory over Harrogate Railway Athletic. Boardman scored in each half before Railway hit back with a goal by Nathan Cartman. The visitors also had two ‘goals’ disallowed for offside.

Striker Louis Clarkson settled a hard-fought tie in favour of Scarborough at Prescot Cables with a 54th-minute header. Cables had Carl Furlong sent off on the hour after an incident with Ben Middleton.

Both Ossett clubs bowed out. Albion had to battle with 10 men at home to Curzon Ashton after Niall O’Brien’s 31st minute dismissal for clashing with Chris McDonagh. Sam Robinson scored Albion’s goal just after the hour in a 3-1 defeat. Ossett Town were hammered 6-1 at home by Darlington 1883 who won the Trophy in 2011 as Darlington FC.
