Bradford City ready for respite of away trip to Leyton Orient

It might seem counter-intuitive, but Bradford City manager Mark Hughes is confident about taking on top-of-League Two Leyton Orient because his players disappointed at Northampton Town last time, and because they are away from home.

The Bantams lost their last league match 3-1 to Northampton Town. They followed it by being knocked out of the Football League Trophy but it is not a competition which carries much weight.

It is at Brisbane Road where Hughes will measure the response, and he has been pleased with reactions to previous losses. He started at the club with back-to-back league defeats but every one since has stood in isolation.

He can also take heart from having taken more points away from home this season (19-14) from one fewer match.

"We're getting wins on the board away from home irrespective of who we've played," he said. "It's as good an away run as I've been involved in with a club.

"We go in with that confidence winning away from home brings you. We need to address our home form but we have the capacity to do that.

"It's another opportunity to go against a team ahead of us and try and peg them back.

"We came up short against Northampton. Up to the goal we were the better team but the game just went away from us so we're looking for improvement.

"We'll look to address our failings in the Northampton game."

Knocked out of the FA Cup by Harrogate Town, the Bantams had some time off last weekend – "a reset for want of a better word," says Hughes – and have only Romoney Critchlow, Emmanuel Osadebe and Ryan East missing.
