Bradford City v Preston North End: Parkinson anticipates entertaining return

PHIL PARKINSON says the Valley Parade crowd will be in for a treat tonight if Bradford City’s clash with promotion-chasing Preston North End is anywhere near as good as the clubs’ first meeting earlier this season.

The Bantams claimed a 2-2 draw from the trip to Deepdale and were unfortunate not to take all three points on a night when Kyel Reid ripped the North End defence to shreds.

Reid will be absent tonight through injury, but Parkinson, whose side have won just once in 16 league games, is hoping for an entertaining contest.

He said: “I thought we were terrific over there. It was a great game played between two teams who had been sent out to attack.

“I can’t imagine many people would have complained about the entertainment on offer that night. If this game is anywhere near as good, the fans are in for a treat.”

When asked about the October 22 meeting, Preston manager Simon Grayson was equally enthusiastic about the standard of entertainment on offer.

But he added: “Both squads are very different now so I am not sure how much bearing that game will have on this one.

“At the time, Bradford’s momentum from winning promotion was carrying them forward.

“Since then Phil has made a few changes in an attempt to kick on again after the wins started to dry up. We know we will be in for a tough game in what I reckon will be a great atmosphere with around 750 to 1,000 of our fans expected to travel.”

City last played 10 days ago in a 2-2 draw with Sheffield United, when Aaron Mclean made his debut. Andrew Davies could return tonight after three months out injured.

Last six games: Bradford City LLDLDD, Preston North End WDLWDD.
