Busy time sees Marco Silva remould Hull City squad

The Tigers accepted a £10m bid from West Bromwich Albion for Livermore yesterday and he is understood to have agreed personal terms with the Midlands club.

His deal is likely to go through today after Silva sanctioned the sale – the second highest in Hull’s history behind Shane Long’s £12m switch to Southampton – to raise sufficient funds to bring in the additions he feels can help keep City in the Premier League.

Norwegian international right-back Elabdellaoui, who worked with Silva at Greek champions Olympiacos, is set to become the Portuguese’s third signing in an initial £1m loan deal to plug what has been a problem position since Moses Odubajo suffered a serious injury in pre-season.

Silva brought in Oumar Niasse from Everton last week along with Porto playmaker Evandro. Both were late substitutes in the 3-1 win over Bournemouth that has breathed fresh life into the Tigers’ hopes of beating the drop.

Hull now have a daunting four-game run in the league with visits to Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal either side of the February 4 home clash with Liverpool but the club’s new head coach is determined to build on that morale-boosting win over the Cherries.

Hence the re-modelling of the squad with Livermore’s impending exit along with the loan departure of Allan McGregor to Cardiff City freeing up necessary funds.

Elabdellaoui, 25, began his career at Manchester City but failed to make an appearance for the Premier League giants before joining Eintracht Braunschweig in 2013. He won two Greek titles in as many years with Olympiacos but has fallen out of favour since Silva’s departure.
