Carlos Corberan laments Huddersfield Town's late defeat to Bristol City

HUDDERSFIELD TOWN head coach Carlos Corberan admitted that his side lost control after Bristol City's dynamic attacking substitutions 'unbalanced' the game in the second half en route to a dramatic 2-1 win for the visitors.

Town were sitting pretty after taking the lead shortly before the break with Josh Koroma netting his first goal at the John Smith's Stadium and his second in successive games after scoring in the 3-0 weekend win at Millwall.

But the introductions of ex-Town midfielder Jamie Paterson - who netted an 85th minute winner - and the outstanding Antoine Semenyo reaped a harvest following their introduction mid-way through the second period.

Semenyo set up City's leveller from Jay Dasilva on 77 minutes and Paterson netted the loose ball shortly after the striker's shot had cannoned off the post with Town's flustered defence all at sea eight minutes later.

It ensured that Town, for the second successive home game, saw three points slip from their grasp after taking the lead, with Bristol City following the example of Preston.

Corberan, whose side welcome Luton Town on Saturday, said: "The team played very well in the first half. We knew they would have a lot of attacking options and a strong squad.

"We did exactly what we needed to in the first half. We played quickly and defended well and that's why we scored. The beginning of the second half was exactly the same .

"But we lost control of the ball in the middle of the pitch and they unbalanced the game with their substitutions.

"We tried to make changes but it wasn't enough. We can't be happy because we need to play well for 90 minutes.

"We played a very good and serious first half because we knew we were playing a strong team with a lot of attacking options.

"I think it's more that we didn't have the right behaviours late on. Maybe they were a bit tired but it was clear we couldn't impose ourselves.

"We didn't recover and that cost us the game. For them being better for 15 or 20 minutes was enough for them to win the game.

Corberan confirmed that Juninho Bacuna missed tonight's game due to sickness, but he is likely to return at the weekend.

Alex Pritchard is likely to be sidelined for three to four weeks with an ankle problem.
