The 2026/27 Championship season is officially underway - and there was no shortage of entertainment across the weekend.
There was admittedly little excitement at Bramall Lane, where Sheffield United kicked off their campaign with a goalless draw with Birmingham City.
It was considerably more dramatic at the Riverside, where Middlesbrough struck late to secure a comeback win over Lincoln City with a Will Lankshear brace.
Away from Yorkshire, Bolton Wanderers were 2-1 victors over Preston North End and Millwall defeated Bristol City 2-0 on the road.
Norwich City were beaten at home by West Bromwich Albion and there was also a home loss for Portsmouth, who saw Queens Park Rangers come out on top.
Swansea City picked up three points at Stoke City, Wolverhampton Wanderers drew 2-2 with Blackburn Rovers and Burnley levelled late against West Ham United.
The opening round of fixtures was rounded off by a Welsh derby, in which Cardiff City and Wrexham played out a 1-1 draw.
Following the first round of Championship fixtures, Opta have deployed their supercomputer to predict how the final table will look.
