“It was a very good performance,” said Ferguson of his side’s win over Coventry City.
“From the moment we went ahead we were quite relentless in what we did.”

“It’s been a long time since we’ve had such a dominating victory. But it shows the players have got a good temperament to play that well in must-win games.
“We played well against Wigan too. After we got the first I felt we’d go on and win the game.”
Tommy Rowe headed in Gary McSheffrey’s corner on 21 minutes and Andy Williams got his head to Nathan Tyson’s cross to give the hosts some breathing space.

But Ferguson said: “All the lads were on their phones in the dressing room and I said to them, ‘don’t be disappointed, you’ve got to be delighted with that performance’.
“We can’t control what happens elsewhere. The Fleetwood result now is probably a good one, the draw [against Blackpool].
“If we lose to Crewe it’s over, if we lose to Burton it’s over. We’ve got to focus on winning those games.”
