1: Doncaster Rovers WWLWWW (+3)

A three-match winning streak after defeat at Hull has been just what the doctor ordered for Rovers, who are THE form side of League One over their past six games. Only Ipswich Town have also taken more points on home soil in the third tier so far this season than Darren Moore’s side.

Valerian Ismael is penning some story at Oakwell. The Frenchman has presided over eight victories in his 12 matches in charge thus far, including three on the spin, including a sweet derby win at Hillsborough. The Reds, who are fourth in the Championship’s six-match form guide, have taken 28 points from 19 matches this term. It took them 33 games to reach that total last season.

3: Middlesbrough LWLLWW (=)

Home form is underpinning Boro’s season, in total contrast to last term. The Teessiders have the joint-best form at home in the second tier and have won seven of their ten fixtures, including the last four. Room for improvement away, mind. They visit Aitor Karanka’s Birmingham City on Saturday.

4: Leeds United WDWLLW (+1)

Leeds scored five goals in the league at Elland Road for the first time since May 2001 in Wednesday’s 5-2 victory over Newcastle United, which was sparkling and supremely timed. It represented the perfect development ahead of Sunday’s trip to face old enemy Manchester United at Old Trafford.

5: Huddersfield Town WLWWLD (+1)

Will be glad to get back home to the John Smith’s Stadium on Saturday. After a bruising 5-0 loss at Bournemouth, Town dug in to chisel out a point at Coventry in midweek. Next, they host Watford as they chase a fourth successive victory on home soil.

Suffering their first wobble of a pretty distinguished season. It was always going to happen. After a win glut in November - six in all competitions - December has been far less straightforward. The Tigers are without a victory in three league fixtures, their longest winless streak of the campaign. A big game at home to Portsmouth on Friday.

7: Harrogate Town WLLLLW (+2)

A fine midweek win at Exeter was arguably the stand-out result of the season so far for Simon Weaver’s side, who have reserved their best for their travels. Only one team has taken more League Two points on the road than Town. Conversely, only two sides have pocketed fewer points on home terrain...Mixed bag.

8: Rotherham United DLLLWL (=)

Saturday’s win over Bristol City was timely. By contrast, Wednesday’s late, late loss at Blackburn was cruel in the extreme for the Millers. Paul Warne’s side, who have lost six of their last eight matches, host Derby in a ‘biggie’ on Saturday. The Millers will be glad to be at home - they have lost their last seven away games.

9: Bradford City LLLLLD (+1)

The post Stuart McCall era began with something at least, a hard-earned point at Crawley which ended a grim run of six successive losses. You have to start somewhere. Loads more to do for managerless City, who are nine without a win, having pocketed just two victories in their last 15 matches in all competitions. Miserable.

10: Sheffield Wednesday DDLLLL (-3)

The tenure of Tony Pulis is currently stuck on the tarmac. Wednesday have yet to win in eight matches under the Welshman and are in desperate strife at the foot of the Championship. With one win in 14 matches, it is perhaps no surprise that the Owls are bottom of the second-tier’s six-match form guide.

11: Sheffield United LLLLLL (=)

Desperate is the only appropriate word to use. In a season of many lows, the nadir arrived in a 3-0 defeat at Southampton, with the Blades in danger of breaking all sorts of records if their form continues. Only Manchester United at home next up..
