Rovers lost 3-1 at Fleetwood Town on Saturday to leave their manager a frustrated figure on the touchline.

Defeat left the Yorkshire club 14th in the table, albeit with a couple of games in hand on several sides around them, and Dickov wants to see a big improvement against Leyton Orient in what will be their first game at the Keepmoat in a little over a month.

He said: “There will be a few changes to the team, personnel wise. We need to get back on track. We go from the subime to the ridiculous. We could have got back-to-back wins in the league but we have followed up a win with a poor performance.

“We are 11 games in and we know we should be better. We need a performance and a result.”

Rob Jones continues to be badly missed in the centre of defence through injury. He is still “a few weeks away” from a possible return, so Dickov has been scouring the loan market.

He added: “We need someone who is a bit more of a leader than we have at the minute. You want leaders all the way through your team. People who organise and who lead by example.”
