Fan’s Review of 2019-20 Season – Barnsley
Simon Nichol, 39, from York, has his say below. Scroll through and see if you agree, leaving your own thoughts in the comments section at the bottom.
How would you assess your season so far? After victory against a promotion favourite, it looked like it could be decent but with obvious off-field issues surrounding the manager it quickly became apparent the team lacked experience leading to game-changing errors in every game. Under Gerhard Struber (after an interim period under Adam Murray) performances improved without any consistency. Individual errors were snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. We lack leaders and experience to compliment players that may be good enough but aren’t quite ready for a tough Championship.
Player of the season? Cauley Woodrow.

Most improved player? Jacob Brown.
Best goal? Woodrow v Charlton.
Which game have you enjoyed most? Barnsley v Hull.
Biggest disappointment? Preston away.

What mark would you give the manager out of ten? Six.

Hide AdHow important is it that we finish the season? Not important but I’d have a different view if Barnsley were top!
If the season gets started again, what is your hope for your team? Scrape survival.
What needs to change for next season? Recruitment needs to be appropriate for the division rather than the balance sheet.
