That comes at Broadhurst Park, the home of Northern Premier League side FC United of Manchester in Saturday's televised FA Cup tie.

It will be Doncaster's seventh game in 21 days since the last international break and with Tyreece John-Jules out injured, Okenabirhie has started all of them. But the 24-year-old says the work put in during a shortened pre-season is paying dividends, as shown by the strong finish to Tuesday's 2-2 draw at Wimbledon's new Plough Lane ground.

“It was a bit of a shorter pre-season so we had to get a lot into not as much time but I felt it was good and we started the season really well so I think that was evidence of that,” he argued. "We're pushing on really well now and we're well into the season now so we just want to keep going as much as we can.

“We've finished the games quite strongly so definitely fitness-wise we're in a good place.”

Rovers went behind for the second time on the night at Wimbledon in midweek but 39-year-old substitute James Coppinger's goal in the first added minute allowed them to claim a 2-2 draw and a valuable League One point.

“It was annoying not to get the win but we showed good character late on to get the equaliser,” said Okenabirhie. “That was the overall feeling really, it was a game we should have won having dominated but with the circumstances of how it ended, we can hopefully build on that in the next few games.”
