Fernando Forestieri latest as Sheffield Wednesday prepare for Sunderland

Fernando Forestieri: Was left out of the Sheffield Wednesday squad for the match against QPR.

CARLOS CARVALHAL today declined to say whether Fernando Forestieri would return to the Sheffield Wednesday squad for the visit of Sunderland after being left out at the weekend.

The Argentinian missed the 1-1 draw with QPR following a training ground bust-up with Sam Winnall.

Carvalhal insisted after Saturday’s game with the Londoners that the matter would be dealt with internally. He stuck to that stance earlier today when asked if Forestieri would be back to take on Simon Grayson’s Black Cats at Hillsborough tomorrow night.

“Fernando Forestieri was involved all the time,” said the Portuguese, who could be without Steven Fletcher against Sunderland due to a knee injury, when asked about the forward.

“He is training with the team, I don’t want to talk too much about that. It is a general situation and I explained things happen in football, we have rules like the red card, like traffic rules when you do something you can’t do.

“It is nothing different than what happens in other clubs. When we decide to play him he will play, if we don’t decide to play him he won’t play.”

Glenn Loovens is a major doubt after suffering a back problem against QPR, while Sam Hutchinson (knee) is out - meaning Daniel Pudil is likely to partner Tom Lees in defence.
