Fulham 1 Huddersfield 1: It feels like a defeat, admits Powell

Cauley Woodrow cancelled out Nahki Wells’ opener to rescue Fulham deep into added on time.

But it did little to help the mood of the home fans who urged Symons to quit as Fulham’s winless run continued.

It meant both Fulham and Huddersfield are are still yet to win in four league games.

But Fulham manager Symons said: “I understand the frustration form the supporters, they can get restless.

“But I also know that from hard times you have to show some character to get better.

“I’m still confident we’ll get some new players, but it can’t come soon enough.

“I didn’t think it was a good game at all. The first goal was going to be key, but luckily we got back into it. Hopefully that’s the result that will get us going now this season.

“We’ve lost games this season and should have got more out of them, but we’ve got to keep going.

“Our form needs to be a lot better. There’s things not right, we’ve know that for a while and we’re working on those things to get them better.

“We just need a little bit of luck. We’ve got a lot of injuries at the moment, so hopefully something evens up.”

It took just 18 minutes for the disgruntled home fans to turn on Fulham. By that time the hosts were lucky to still be level.

But Huddersfield took a deserved 62nd minute lead through Wells. Harry Bunn threaded through a pass and Wells did the rest by sidefooting home.

Fulham looked devoid of ideas before Woodrow struck following a goalmouth scramble to deny Huddersfield their first win of the season.

Huddersfield manager Chris Powell said: “I’ve got to say my players were excellent. Our positivity in the second half got us our just rewards with the goal after a stalemate in the first half.

“It was about really trying to get that second goal. Getting it would have really killed Fulham’s spirits.

“Fair play to Kit and his players though, they kept going and even though we made some good blocks and clearances we’ve conceded an equaliser.

“It really hurts, it feels like a defeat because it would have been the perfect away performance with a clean sheet and three points.

“Three draws in a week is decent, but I’d have liked a win.

“It’s been a really tough week, but we’ve worked hard this week and the players have shown some really good fitness.

“We’re still three unbeaten, but a win would have really helped us moving forward. We know we’re close.”
