Ross McCormack was repeatedly linked with a move to Middlesbrough during the January transfer window.

The Fulham star reportedly even handed in a transfer request to force through a move.

However, a move never panned out and Boro signed Jordan Rhodes instead.

“I was fine. Fulham didn’t want to sell me. It’s as simple as that,” McCormack told GetWestLondon.

“I’m still here. I’ve got three and a half years on my contract.

“I’m in no rush but, of course, I’d love to play at the highest level.”

Boro have also been linked with a loan move for Swansea City winger Jefferson Montero, according to The Sun.

The 26-year-old is no longer in favour at the Liberty Stadium.

There has been plenty of speculation that Hull City will snap up Nick Powell on a free transfer when his Manchester United contract runs out at the end of the season.

Tigers chief Steve Bruce admits it might not be as simple as that.

He told the Hull Daily Mail: “Manchester United have kept their options open and because he’s under 24 they can do.

“I don’t know if they’ve closed the door on him or not but maybe the key is what he does here between now and the end of the season.

“Mick (Phelan, City assistant manager) knows him well and, of course, I spoke with Ryan Giggs at length about him.

“It’s fair to say that Ryan really likes him as a player.”

Neil Warnock was appointed Rotherham United manager last week, and it would not have been a shock to hear that the former Sheffield United boss would want to sign players to move away from the relegation zone.

That does not seem to be the case.

He told BBC Radio Sheffield: “I know if I want to fetch a player in I’m sure the Chairman would let me have him but I don’t expect to be fetching anyone in.

“I’m not going to do anything silly. We’ve one or two lads who’ve been injured who are coming back so we’ll see how they go later on in the week.”
