HULL CITY manager Grant McCann admits that the absence of joint top-scorer Keane Lewis-Potter from Saturday's scheduled League One home game with Burton Albion represents a 'disappointment.'

The young forward is currently self-isolating in line with Government protocols after being in close contact with his girlfriend who has shown symptoms associated with Covid-19.

But better news says keeper George Long return to the fray after missing the midweek Papa John's Trophy game at Harrogate Town after his partner experiencing some Coronavirus-related symptoms. Both Long and his girlfriend have tested negative.

McCann, who will be without striker Josh Magennis, who is on international duty with Northern Ireland, said: "George trained (on Thursday) and him and his girlfriend have tested negative.

"Unfortunately, Keane's girlfriend has shown symptoms and Keano has had a test, which is negative. But he has to isolate now for five days.

"So he will miss the weekend's game. He will be tested again on Friday or Saturday with the prospect of coming into train on Monday with us.

"It is disappointing because he is in good form. But it is an opportunity for someone else."

On if there is any progress regarding a new deal for Lewis-Potter, set to be rewarded for an outstanding start to the campaign, McCann added: "We have not seen him for a few days, but I think they are still working on it in the background."

City's home game remains in doubt after several members of the Burton first-team squad and staff tested positive for Covid-19 following the latest round of testing at the club.

The game is on, as it stands, with Hull preparing as if it will be played.

McCann commented: "We are just preparing as if the game is on. As we stand today, I think the game is going ahead. Unless we hear otherwise, we will just prepare as if it is going ahead.

"If it doesn't go ahead, we will adjust and prepare for Tuesday, which is Grimsby.

"That is all we can do as footballers, managers and staff.

"Players have obviously asked questions and seen it on social media when it got announced. But the players are great and we had a very good training and we are preparing for a tough game on Saturday.

"We are desperate to play and feel as if we are in a good place at the minute."
