Guiseley 2 Tranmere 2: Battling performance earns Lions point against promotion-hopefuls

Guiseley fought back from a goal down on two occasions as they drew with Tranmere Rovers 2-2 at Nethermoor Park.

Both sides showed their attacking intent from the off with and Tranmere nearly took the lead when former Sheffield United striker Michael Higdon hit the post with an early header.

Guiseley replied as Liam Dickinson hit a free-kick which had to be parried away. But the away side gained the advantage when a cross which Rob Atkinson tried to clear went past Dan Atkinson and into the back of the net.

Moments later Guiseley were level, when Dickinson produced a smart finish after being found by a cross from Danny Lowe, this is how the scores were at half-time.

The hosts nearly made the perfect start in the second half when Nicky Boshell’s effort hit the crossbar.

Tranmere took the lead again when Liam Ridehalgh found Jake Kirby and he was able to fire a shot from 20 yards out which flew past the keeper Atkinson.

Guiseley were level when James Hurst was in the right place to fire a shot home.
