The Shaymen’s manager described his side as “not good enough” over the last few weeks as their play-off hopes fell away and said there will be personnel changes in the summer.

Aspin commented: “In the second half of the season, and especially in the last few weeks, we’ve not been good enough.

“(On Saturday) were weren’t good enough and we’ve got to make a lot of changes.

“I need to make changes. That’s been more than evident over the last few weeks.

“The players have had a good chance to show they want to stay here and it’s clear that we’re a long way off where we need to be.

“It’s got to be addressed, it’s as simple as that.”

A drab first half was enlivened just before the break when Kevin Roberts produced a superb block from Ashley Yeomans before Louis Briscoe fired wide.

There was another let-off just after half-time when hesitancy between Marc Roberts and Matt Glennon let in Toby Ajala, but he lost control.

Halifax saw chances for Kevin Roberts, Jack Muldoon and Jamie Jackson all go to waste before substitute John Campbell latched on to Courtney Richards’s flick-on to hit a miscued shot which rolled past Glennon.

If that finish was fortuitous then Kadell Daniel’s effort from 30 yards three minutes later was anything but as his magnificent free-kick flew past Glennon.

FC Halifax Town: Glennon, K Roberts, M Roberts, Bolton (Pearson 17), Hutchison, McManus, Smith, Marshall, Hatfield, Muldoon (Schofield 83), Hattersley (Jackson 46). Unused substitutes: Senior, Williams.
