Williams confident Halifax will hit back

The Shaymen went down in unlucky fashion in a 2-1 loss at Bristol Rovers despite dominating the second half as their fine run of five straight league wins was ended.

Halifax have the chance to return to winning ways against Aldershot, who claimed an impressive win over Grimsby Town seven days ago, with Aspin delighted with the bigger picture in terms of his side’s flying start to the season.

Apsin said: “Of course the players will have been disappointed by the result. But that’s football.

“If you had asked the players if they would be top of the league after six games, they would definitely have taken it.”

Echoing his manager’s comments, defender Steve Williams, hoping to shrug off a knock to feature, added: “Obviously, we are still up there and we are joint top with the points, so that is what matters.

“We have a home game next to bounce back and that is what it is about and so we are looking to set the score straight on Saturday.

“I think it is a good thing to have a home game now and it is important because we are a team that know we can take all three points when we are at home so it is important that we do get that when we have a home game and get a bit of confidence back.

“Obviously, we are not going to be downhearted about it and we are going to keep the spirit high because we have only lost one in six and you can’t say that we have really done anything bad because it was just by one goal.

“Hopefully, we can put things right at home on Saturday.”

Aspin will be without Richard Peniket and Matty Pearson also a doubt.
