Harrogate footballer Rachel Daly hailed the 'unbelievable feeling' of scoring on her England debut as the national women's team hammered Serbia 7-0 on Saturday.

Daly slotted home England’s third from close range as the Lionesses picked up a crucial victory in their bid to qualify for Euro 2017.

England were never troubled at Wycombe’s Adams Park as Karen Carney scored a hat-trick, including two penalties, to help the Lionesses close the gap to qualification group leaders Belgium.

Alex Greenwood, Ellen White and Izzie Christiansen were also on target for England.

Daly tweeted: “What an unbelievable feeling. 7-0 win and a goal on my debut. Absolutely over the moon! Thanks to everyone for your messages!! #Lionesses”

The 24-year-old has been in blistering form since earning a historic draft selection in the United States.

Houston Dash selected Daly as the sixth pick in January’s college draft and the former Leeds United striker has hit the ground running wearing the number three shirt.

Daly’s fine form caught the eye of England boss Mark Sampson who rewarded her with a second international call-up before handing her a first start up front against Serbia.

Former Take That singer Robbie Williams even gave Daly a good luck message prior to her first appearance in a three lions shirt.

He tweeted: “Watching @England ladies at the hotel #lionesses Good luck @RachelDaly3 on your debut x”

Daly could earn a second international cap on Tuesday as England head out to face Serbia for a second time in four days (kick-off 7pm).
