Harrogate Town transfer deadline day news: Danny Grant joins growing Huddersfield Town loan contingent

Harrogate Town have made their fourth loan signing of the window and sixth of the year from Huddersfield Town in the shape of forward Danny Grant.

The Sulphurites admitted they had hoped to add midfielder Brahima Diarra to a stable of on-loan players which already included Josh Austerfield, Matty Daly and Jaheim Headley, but have been able to sign Grant instead.

Grant was one of two unheralded players Huddersfield signed to develop in the January 2021 transfer window. But where Sorba Thomas has thrived since joining from Boreham Wood, Grant is yet to play senior football for the club he joined from Bohemians, hampered by injury problems as he adapted to Town's notorious training regimes.

With Luke Armstrong's goals having dried up since an explosive start to his Harrogate career, manager Simon Weaver needs Grant to take to League Two football.

His side have not found the net since the opening day of the season - when they scored three - and Armstrong has scored four goals in 34 appearances in all competitions this calendar year, having started with ten in 19 at the end of last year.

Diarra and Austerfield were on loan at Wetherby Road for the second half of last season.
