Herbert Bockhorn leaves Huddersfield Town after one appearance

Right-back Herbert Bockhorn has left Huddersfield Town after a season in which he made just one appearance for the Terriers.

Jan Siewert signed his former Borussia Dortmund II player a year ago, but his only appearance came in the League Cup, when Huddersfield were knocked out by Danny Cowley's Lincoln City.

Shortly afterwards Siewert was sacked and replaced as manager by Cowley, but the Londoner never picked him, even though the club ended the season without a specialist right-back after the departure of Danny Simpson. Even now Cowley has moved on too, sacked this month and replaced by head coach Carlos Corberan, it was clear Bockhorn had to go for his own sake.

"We have to think about our young players and we don't want to stop their pathway by a player who we feel probably hasn't got a future at this football club,” explained Cowley, who tried to move Bockhorn on in January as he had a clear-out of unwanted players.

Now the Ugandan-born 25-year-old has returned to Germany, where he played his whole professional career before moving to West Yorkshire, to join Bundesliga 2 side Bochum after his contract was terminated by mutual consent.
