Huddersfield Town 3 Millwall 0: Beckford and Vaughan earn Terriers win

HUDDERSFIELD Town manager Mark Robins climbed away from the drop zone in the early kick-off win a 3-0 win against beaten FA Cup semi-finalists Millwall at the John Smith’s Stadium.

David Forde did well to keep out a close-range header from Beckford and James Henry struck the bar from a free-kick at the other end before Karleigh Osborne cleared Oliver Norwood’s free-kick for Town off the line.

Beckford broke the deadlock when he robbed Danny Shittu attempting to shield the ball dead and chipped Forde in the 37th minute.

Beckford’s head could not convert from close range Vaughan’s header from a corner as it flashed across the area and it was left to Alex Smithies to produce a great save as Henry drove through the defensive wall in first half stoppage time.

Town’s strikers soon settled any nerves as they both struck after the break.

Vaughan rifled the ball home after latching on to a pass from Adam Clayton and then sent through Beckford to make it 3-0 in the 62nd minute.

Both scorers were withdrawn ahead of Town’s important last two matches, though Beckford may have been suffering with his troublesome groin.
