Huddersfield Town defender's admission regarding Jack Whatmough and Marcus McGuane - and why this season feels different
PERSPECTIVE has not been far away from Huddersfield Town defender Sean Roughan this autumn.
The Irishman has had to bide his time for a first-team chance due to the form of others and an untimely thigh strain picked up at the start of the campaign.

Injuries to Radinio Balker and Murray Wallace have opened the door. Roughan impressed in his maiden League One start of the season during Town's outstanding weekend victory at Plymouth Argyle, their best result and display of a positive 2026-27 thus far.
During his time on the periphery, the 23-year-old did not bemoan his situation.
Speaking ahead of the home game with Peterborough United on Tuesday evening, he said: "I know some of the lads – me included – might have a few down days going through injury.
"But you've got to look at the bigger picture. There's a lot tougher things going on in life.
"I got my injury and then Marcus McGuane had his a week after, and it makes you realise you've only got a small injury compared to what others experience. So you've always got to keep a smile on your face and help the lads in whatever way you can.
"I think of every lad that has got injured this season – and obviously it's been tough for Jack Whatmough.
"But every day, he's coming in, laughing, and making all the jokes (trying to be positive). Stuff like that goes under the radar, but it keeps all the lads in good spirits and wanting to do well for each other."
Early in the season though it may be, Roughan detects a mood shift at the club and a sense of real unity and resolve after a difficult past few seasons for the Terriers.
That will be tested amid some significant league matches on the horizon, most notably against derby rivals Bradford City.
Citing a bit of a different feel, the former Lincoln City player continued: "Definitely. It feels like everyone's wanting to work for each other and the gaffer's made a point about the culture.
"I think we've shown on the pitch that we're running for each other and doing that extra little bit that we might have not done last year.
"But I think the lads now want promotion and know what it means for this club; that's our main aim.
"I know we have a few injuries now at the minute, but us as lads, we're going to have to stick together more than ever now to get through."
