Huddersfield Town have confirmed new contracts for five promising young players

Huddersfield Town have handed new contracts to five of their most promising academy prospects.

In a dismal 2025/26 League One campaign for the Terriers, the emergence of some exciting young talent provided reason for optimism.

Defenders Max Murray and George Iorpenda, midfielders Jay Sway and Dan Vost and forward George Sebine all made senior appearances, and all now have new deals.

Huddersfield Town hand new deals to five youngsters

Murray, Iorpenda, Sway and Sebine have had their deals extended until the summer of 2029, while Vost has committed to the Terriers until 2028.

Huddersfield’s director of player development Jon Worthington said: “What we have seen from all five of these young professionals since they have arrived at the academy was a real focus to improve as individuals.

“Their commitment to that can be seen through their successes in both the Under-21s and when they have stepped into the first team to gain deserved experience.

“I’d like to congratulate them all on extending their contracts here with the Huddersfield Town, and look forward to continuing working with them, as they hopefully develop into successful senior professionals.”

Huddersfield Town looking to youth

Martin Drury has been tasked with reviving Huddersfield having been appointed as Liam Manning’s successor as head coach.

He is renowned for developing young talent and hopes youth will play a key role in the latest rebuild at the Accu Stadium.

In May, he said: “I think that's what this club has been built on in the past. It wants to develop people, it wants to develop staff and players.

“It was a highly successful period last season particularly for the B team. That didn't happen in 12 months, that's years of work, dedication and sacrifice. It's not going to be a click of the fingers, it's going to take a bit of time.

“The thing we can take from the academy is the consistency. A lot of people within the academy have been there a number of years.

“I remember five or six yeas ago coming up against Huddersfield when it was in a transition period, when the academy closed. That's been a long journey but it's a great representation of how you build success.”
