Huddersfield Town step up chase for ex-Premier League striker, Watford defender set for cut-price exit

Huddersfield Town picked up another precious point in the Championship last weekend, when they held Mick McCarthy's in-form Cardiff City to a goalless draw at the John Smith's Stadium.

Speaking after the game, which saw the Terriers creep up to 18th place in the table, Huddersfield manager Carlos Corberan opened up on the penalty missed by new boy Yaya Sanogo, and revealed: “Yaya has scored penalties at Toulouse, and it is a shame that he didn’t score for the team, and after the performance he put in tonight.

“He needs more minutes to reach his level, but tonight was a big step in the right direction.

“Cardiff arrived here having scored a lot of goals, and they’re the best team at attacking set pieces. This wasn’t easy for the team, but every player - from the goalkeeper to Yaya - showed a lot.”

Next up, the Terriers travel to take on Queens Park Rangers - a side they've not lost to since 2015 - on Saturday afternoon, and will be looking to continue their progress moving away from the relegation zone.

Here are today's biggest transfer stories and the latest team news involving Huddersfield Town and the rest of the Championship, as the fall-out and reaction from the weekend's action continues:
