Town were strongly linked with a move for the Walsall forward ahead of the deadline, but instead, the 23-year-old - who has scored ten goals this term - has switched the Hatters and could be handed a debut against Carlos Corberan's side this weekend.

Scottish outfit Hearts were also keen on London-born Adebayo after making him their number one target, but saw an offer rejected by Walsall last week.

Adebayo now finds himself in Bedfordshire and not in West Yorkshire or Edinburgh.

He said: “Huddersfield was the prime destination as well, but that didn’t quite work out, so I’m happy that Luton have called and I’m happy to be here.

"It was flattering to get a few clubs interested now, but with everything that’s going on, with the pandemic and everything, I am very fortunate to have got my move now.

"If I end up getting my chance (on Saturday) I’ll be looking forward to it and definitely be showing them what they (Huddersfield) are missing."

On his deadline day move to Luton, he added: "I wasn’t expecting it at all, it was kind of smash and grab really.

“I got a call about half five, by that point I thought I was staying at Walsall, but I’m delighted to be here now, that it’s got over the line.

“It was like, ‘you might be going here, you might be going there.’

“Then I kind of got told, ‘you never know, just keep your phone on and we’ll see what comes later on.’
