Huddersfield Town transfer latest: Midfielder links up with former manager at League Two club

HUDDERSFIELD Town midfielder Antony Evans has linked up with former Terriers head coach Lee Grant after joining Walsall on loan for the rest of the season.

The former Bristol Rovers man is down the pecking order at Town and is yet to feature this season. He is out of contract next summer.

The 27-year-old has had a difficult time since joining the club in the summer of 2024, with a litany of injuries not helping his cause. He has now been allowed to head to the League Two Saddlers.

The future of some other squad players remains up in the air ahead of the deadline at 11pm.

Town sporting director Chris Markham commented:
"Last season was really challenging for Antony, with both knee injuries taking a significant portion of the campaign away from him.

"Keen to return to playing regular competitive minutes, that isn’t a role we can currently guarantee him here, so we’ve worked with Antony and his representatives to find a solution that satisfies for all concerned.

"Having welcomed several new faces to the squad throughout the summer, we have always been really honest about the necessity to manage the size of our squad heading into the season.

"We wish Antony nothing but the best for his time with Walsall, and we’ll continue to monitor his progress there on a regular basis moving forward.”

Head coach Martin Drury added:
"Antony has worked incredibly hard to get back to full fitness both last season and over the summer, and he’s trained well since returning for pre-season. For him, the next step is to play regularly again, which we had some honest conversations around.

"I’m pleased that Antony and the club have reached a conclusion that is in everyone’s best interests, as he is a great character and has been a really well liked member of our squad.”
