The Terriers host Luton Town this afternoon, hoping to avoid a third-straight defeat on home soil.

Huddersfield have let a 1-0 lead slip into a 2-1 loss in their last two outings at the John Smith’s Stadium, against Preston North End and Bristol City respectively.

Corberan feels the losses were down to the Terriers’ inexperience and admits his team need to learn how to manage games better.

“When you only are leading by one goal, especially in the Championship, a mistake can happen at any time,” he said.

“You need to know how to manage the emotion. I think as a team we need to mature.

“The maturity is one of the skills you need to learn in this division. You can learn from experience.

“We need to learn from our recent games and we need to reduce the chances the opponent is creating.”

Corberan believes his players need to be better at making their dominance count.

Bristol scored twice in six minutes during midweek to snatch victory in the final quarter of the contest.

However, the Huddersfield manager is certain that his side would have walked away with all three points if they had managed to claim a second goal.

“In the minutes that we have the ball, we need to create more chances to influence the result,” he continued.

“Against Bristol, if we had scored the second goal I don’t think they would have found the energy to get a result. We need to learn from these moments.”

He added: “It is difficult to create chances against a team defending as a block.

“For me it is down to experience and we need to manage the situations in some games better.”

Luton won 2-0 on their last visit to Huddersfield, when both sides were locked in a dramatic relegation battle at the end of last season. The Hatters have enjoyed a fine start to the campaign and sit three points ahead of Huddersfield in the Championship table after 10 games each.

Corberan is expecting a “battle” against Nathan Jones’s side, who were 1-0 victors at Rotherham United on Wednesday night.

“Luton is a dangerous game because players could underestimate them because two years ago they were in League One,” added Corberan.

“They were promoted because they have players good enough to play in the Championship.

“In their nine games under a new manager [Jones] at the end of last season, they only lost one game.

“I respect them a lot. They are hard to beat and are three points ahead of us in the league.

“I expect a real battle, a real war because I know how they defend and they are the last team I expect to give us an easy game.

“To win, it is going to be very demanding. I know how hard it was for the teams who have beat them this year.

“It is a game that will demand the best of us during 90 minutes.”
