Huddersfield Town v Peterborough United: Bennett to step in for Huddersfield as Smithies quits England duty

JOHNSTONE'S PAINT TROPHYIAN BENNETT is set to make his full Huddersfield Town debut tonight in place of Alex Smithies, who was due to be away on international duty but last night withdrew injured.

Thirty-eight-year-old Bennett joined the Terriers during the summer on a free transfer from Sheffield United but has had to be patient.

Smithies's good form has restricted him to just one appearance from the bench, in the Carling Cup defeat to Everton.

But all that will change tonight due to Town's first-choice goalkeeper being away with England Under-21s – and now injured.

Also missing for Town on international duty is Scotland Under-21's Scott Arfield, while Jamie McCombe will serve a one-game ban following his dismissal against Bristol Rovers at the weekend.

Nathan Clarke may return, however, after coming through a behind closed doors friendly last week with no reaction to the injury that has kept him out all season.

Meanwhile, Town first-team coach Derek Fazackerley has joined Leicester City to be reunited with Sven Goran Eriksson. The pair worked together at Manchester City during the 2007-08 season when the Swede was in charge at Eastlands.

Manager Lee Clark said: "I knew the sort of impact Derek would have when I brought him in and he has made a massive contribution in taking the club forward. However, just as with good players, when you have good staff they will be courted by other clubs."

Tonight's tie kicks off at 7pm and the turnstiles will open an hour earlier.

Tickets are priced at 10 for adults and 5 concessions.
